Golden Week is actually a two week-long holiday in China. It happens twice a year in what are known as the golden weeks. The first Golden Week in China is Spring Festival. This is celebrated in either January or February and is set around Chinese New Year. The date moves each year because it is linked to the lunar cycle. The second Golden Week, is known as National Day.

For most families these two weeks represent a challenge for distracting children. In Shanghai there are many options for them but there is nothing better than sports and meeting other kids of their age.
